Standing Hearts, 2025

“The translucent paper forms made from abaca fiber in Standing Hearts each hold coils of copper wire and magnetic weights. When sound waves travel through the coils, the magnets move and percuss the paper forms in steady rhythms.. The sound is sonified brain waves linked with experiences of compassion, empathy, and forgiveness. To obtain this data, Swartz recorded her own brain activity during heart-focused meditation practices.”
