Stability Study (table)
Wood, rock, wire, embedded magnet
108 x 12 x 12 inches
The counter-weight of the rock allows the three-legged table to stand. The flexible steel wire, perched on the rock seems to stand by itself. It defies gravity thanks to a magnet hidden inside the wood of the inverted fourth table leg.
Stability Study (glass)
Glass, wire, stainless steel, magnet
111 x 3 x 3
The sharpened tip of an 8-foot long steel wire rests on a drinking glass. The attenuated, flexible wire is held erect by the magnetic pull of the stainless steel element hanging above it.
